About the House

Photo Tour

Most terminally ill people prefer to remain at home, but this is not always possible-especially if the progression of disease causes complications that become difficult to treat in the home.

That's why Seacoast Hospice built the Hyder Family Hospice House — a warm, homelike environment where patients can receive intensive monitoring and 24-hour medical and non-medical care, including spiritual and emotional support.

The 12,700 sq. ft. Hospice House offers 14 individual patient rooms. Just minutes from exit 9 on the Spaulding Turnpike in Dover, New Hampshire, the Hyder Family Hospice House is within easy reach for everyone in the region.

The Hyder Family Hospice House offers:

  • Comfortable private rooms
  • A meditation room/chapel for quiet reflection
  • A family kitchen for meals with loved ones
  • Rooms for families to stay
  • Community gardens and walks
  • A special children's area
  • A warm hearth in the living room to welcome patients, guests, and families
The Hyder Family Hospice House is a caring alternative for a terminally ill elderly person who lives alone or for an elderly couple too frail to care for each other. The Hospice House also serves the terminally ill single mother with young children or the ill husband whose wife cannot leave her job. The Hospice House also admits patients for short-term respite stays, allowing caregivers a much-needed break and an opportunity to care for themselves or attend an event out of town.

"Terminally ill people unable to stay at home deserve access to the best environment in which to spend time with family and friends."
