Choosing Hospice
The choice to pursue hospice care is generally a choice to move away
from aggressive, curative treatment to focus on palliative or comfort-based
care.
Hospice care alleviates symptoms and provides emotional support,
pain control, and peace of mind for patients and families by focusing
on each individual's unique requests and requirements.
Hospice Empowers Patients
The word "hospice" means "a place of shelter for
travelers." For people facing the end-of-life journey, it's a
fitting description. Often, patients enroll in Seacoast Hospice having
undergone numerous invasive, usually exhausting, disease-fighting
treatments. Once in hospice care, we make our patients as comfortable
and as pain-free as possible and help focus on the joys in life that
may have been pushed aside during the disease-fighting time.
Pain Control Options
Seacoast Hospice also offers patients alternatives to traditional
pain control medicines. People have used alternative methods to help
ease pain and promote healing for thousands of years. These therapies
don't involve taking medicines, but instead offer different
techniques such as massage, relaxation exercises, yoga, art and music
therapy, and Reiki to help alleviate symptoms. We offer many options
but whatever you choose, your program is individualized to work expressly
for you. Complementary therapies can also be used in conjunction with
traditional medicines.
